She attended Universidad Favaloro, Facultad, de Medicina in Buenos Aires, Argentina for medical school and completed her training in Michigan, Grand Rapids Family Medicine Residency Program in 2010. Dr. Angola enjoyed doing missionary work in the rural areas in Northwest and Southwest Argentina. Dr. Antola’s hobbies include swimming, hiking, camping, ballroom dancing and cooking. She joined NBMC August 2010.

Susan was born in Redding, California. She received her Associates Degree in Nursing in 1980 from Shasta Community College. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1995 from Oregon Health Sciences University at Southern Oregon State University. Susan continued her education at the University of California where she received her Master’s of Science in Nursing and her Certification as an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2002. She received her FNP at California State University in 2003. Susan holds current RN, FNP, CNS, and ANCC certification in the state of Oregon. She is a member of the National Association of Family Nurse Practitioners, the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists and the National Oncology Nursing Society. Her practice consists of hematology and oncology at the mid-level. She has a special interest in breast and ovarian cancer. She enjoys reading books about people, eating really good freshly-made food and watching the surf at Shore Acres.

She relocated to the United States in 1992 and proceeded to work in a variety of health care settings throughout the country as a traveling therapist. Julie earned the designation of Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) November 2004, becoming the only therapist on the southern Oregon coast specialized in the treatment of the hand. Julie joined the Physical Therapy Department in December 2004

She has been in the US since 1994 at All Children’s Hospital University of South Florida as an Associate in Research, Department of Pediatrics. From May 1997 to August 2000 she did a Residency in Internal Medicine at Canton Medical Education Foundation, Canton, Ohio. From September 2002 to November 2002 she completed a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at Indiana University, Indianapolis, Indiana. Her membership in professional societies includes the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Medical Association, American Society of Hematology, Oregon Medical Association, and Burma Medical Council, Department of Health, Rangoon, Burma. Dr. Cherry began her practice at North Bend Medical Center in February 2003.

Kamara Dodd joined NBMC in September of 2009. She is a member of the Midwest Nursing Research Society, the Oregon Nurses Association and the Nurse Practitioners of Oregon. She loves to be involved in community organization such as the Relay For Life and has done many fundraising events and volunteer work for St. Jude’s Research Hospital. Kamara Dodd has also joined the local Women’s Health Coalition. In her practice she is involved with infusions for osteoporosis treatments; insulin pumps for both type I and type II diabetes, internal medicine, women’s health and geriatric health. Kamara Dodd is married with two kids and a dog. She loves family activities such as hanging out at the beach and going hiking. She also enjoys skiing as much as possible in the winter months.

Dr. Fink did her medical school training in Wake Forest University School of Medicine and her Internship and Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Maricopa County Medical Center, the Phoenix Integrated Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a member of the Oregon Medical Association. Dr. Fink is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and received her American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Fellowship in 2007. Medically she has special interests in incontinence, endometriosis, infertility, vulvar disorder and menopausal problems. She has a particular interest in making sure each patient not only knows their diagnosis and treatment plan, but understands it as well. She has developed over fifteen patient education aids for her personal practice. She is an avid gardener and enjoys spending time on the bay, at the lake and in the dunes with her three daughters.

Robert W. Gerber, MDDr. Gerber graduated from the Canal Zone College/Gorgas US Army Hospital in 1983, earning a Bachelor in Science. His medical degree was awarded in 1987 from the University of Medical Sciences, San Jose, Costa Rica. While living in Central America he became fluent in Spanish. Dr. Gerber received postgraduate training at the University of Miami, completing a three-year Family Practice residency in 1992. Upon completing his residency Dr. Gerber began practicing in Coos Bay. He is a Diplomat of, and board certified by, the American Board of Family Practice. A large part of his practice consists of Occupational Medicine. Dr. Gerber was involved in establishing the Waterfall Clinic for the non-insured. He was also the Medical Director there for ten years. He and his five children enjoy fishing, hunting, hiking and cooking.

Steven R. Giss, MD, FACSDr. Giss is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University and works with fourth-year medical students doing rural surgery rotations. Since his arrival to the Coos Bay area he has been the liaison for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer working closely with the hospital’s Comprehensive Cancer Program and has served as the director of Bay Area Hospital’s Department of Trauma. He is currently the Chairman of the department of surgery at Bay Area Hospital. Special interests within his field include minimally-invasive surgery, cancer surgery, varicose vein management, and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He enjoys working with pre-med and medical students interested in pursuing general surgery. He enjoys participating in triathlons, snow skiing, surfing, tennis and playing a variety of musical instruments — all with his family of course!

Dr. Henken's career has been four decade's long & has been spent in the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy, private practice in Idaho & nearly twenty years in San Diego, California at Kaiser Permanente.

He is board-certified in Pediatrics & Pediatric Cardiology.

Dale & his wife, Win, a clinical psychologist have two married daughters & three grandchildren. He enjoys gardening, golf, computers, cooking, reading & keeps his home in Coquille.

Dr. Jany received his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Louis University in 1977. He received his Medical Degree in 1982 from St. Louis University School of Medicine. His surgical internship was completed at the US Naval Hospital, Oakland, California, from 1982-1983. His orthopedic surgical residency was completed from 1984-1988 in Oakland, California, at the United States Naval Hospital, and University of California-San Francisco. Dr. Jany served two additional years on active duty at the United States Naval Hospital at Philadelphia.

Dr. Jany moved to the Coos Bay/North Bend area in August of 1990. He was initially Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons in 1988, and is currently Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Jany treats all musculoskeletal injuries including, but not limited to, shoulder, arm, elbow, hand, wrist, hip, knee, foot, and ankle issues. He performs most orthopedic surgeries including arthroscopy, total knee replacements, fracture care, carpal tunnel release, and upper extremity surgery of the shoulder.

Sushan Joshi, MDDr. Joshi is originally from the country of Mt. Everest, Nepal. He completed his medical school training there at Tribhuvan University in 2006. Dr. Joshi then came to the United States to complete an observership at the Heart Clinic and the Conroe Regional Medical Center in Conroe, Texas. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. in June 2011. During his residency, Dr. Joshi has had experiences as a Neurology, Hematology, Rheumatology, Cardiomyopathy Elective Resident. His in training examination scores have been in the 99th percentile in each of his three years of residency. He is a winner of the Award for Outstanding Scholastic Performance at Saint Vincent Hospital and is a member of such professional organizations as the Massachusetts Medical Society and the American Medical Association. He loves pristine natural places, enjoys reading good literary works, biographies and short sweet poems, attempts swimming, meditating and feels privileged to practice the science and art of healing.

Nancy Keller, MDDDr. Keller earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and biology from the University of Oregon in 1987 and graduated Cum Laude from Oregon Health Science University School of Medicine in 1989. She completed her family practice residency at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1992. She has been a practicing family physician in Coquille ever since graduating from her residency in July 1992. Her practice is a full spectrum family practice that includes delivering babies and has an emphasis on teen girls and women’s health.

She is chess coach for the Coquille Chess Club whose elementary, middle school and high school teams have won many trophies at state and national events. She plays the clarinet in the Bay Area Community Band who put on local performances. She is a major supporter for the new Coquille Art and Education Enhancement Center. She also oil paints, with a year 2010 “chess in nature” calendar recently published and has paintings at the Coquille Art Gallery. She enjoys river rafting, RV camping, playing guitar, reading science fiction and attending Science Fiction conventions.

He received his MD degree from Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia in 1971 and his PhD in anatomy from Thomas Jefferson University School of Graduate Studies in 1974. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York, in 1975, and became a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1977. Dr. Kobrin received his basic acupuncture training through the UCLA Medical Acupuncture for Physicians training program in 1984, and is a founding member of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture. He is a fellow of both the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.

Leo Kusuda, MDDr. Kusuda was born in Newark, New Jersey. He received a BES in Bioengineering in 1977 from Johns Hopkins University. He received his MD from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1981. Urology residency at Oakland Naval Hospital, Oakland, California, was completed in 1986. He completed a three- year fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York in 1993. In 2007, he retired from the US Navy with the rank of Captain and had been on staff at the Eastern Virginia Medical School at the rank of Associate Professor. He is board certified through the American Board of Urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Kusuda is a member of the American Urological Association, Society of Government Services Urologists and the Oregon Medical Association. Dr. Kusuda is an Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator and is active with the Coos County Amateur Radio Emergency Services.

He completed his medical internship in 1989 and residency in Internal Medicine in 1991 at University of California San Francisco in San Francisco, California. Dr. Moriarty became certified by the American Medical Director Association with a specialty in Long Term Care in 2001. Sandra R. Randolph, AuD Dr. Randolph was born in Seattle, Washington. She graduated from the University of Washington, Speech and Hearing Sciences department in June of 2005 with her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences. She continued her studies at the University of Washington and graduated in August 2008 with her Doctorate in Audiology. Dr. Randolph has worked clinically with both pediatric and adult populations. She strives to serve both populations with comprehensive and compassionate audiologic care. She joined North Bend Medical Center in October of 2010. Dr. Randolph is board certified, by the Oregon State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. She is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA). Outside of work, she continues to promote healthy hearing through her affiliation with Oregon State Special Olympics, as the state’s clinical director for the “Healthy Hearing” program. The Healthy Hearing initiative is dedicated to promoting better hearing health and education to Special Olympic athletes. Dr. Randolph and her husband are happy to call the southern Oregon Coast their home.

Dr. Ravuri at the age of 17 attended one of the most prestigious medical schools in India, Andhra Medical College, started in 1857 by the British. He pursued further training in Internal Medicine at Rush-Westlake Hospital in Chicago. He chose NBMC over sub-specialization at the Mayo Clinic because the practices at NBMC epitomized how he wanted to practice as a physician.

Dr. Ravuri recently added Kamara Dodd, FNP, to his team to increase the same-day access to care for his patients, making his practice a true model for Integrated Medical Home.

He has been at NBMC since 1993 when he came from Johns Hopkins University Hospital where he was on faculty in the Department of Otolaryngology. He completed his medical school at McGill University in Montreal in 1978. He spent five years in family practice in rural Nova Scotia followed by specialty training in ENT in London, Ontario. His fellowship training focused upon Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Shimotakahara’s clinical skill s include all aspects of ENT practice including the surgical treatment of sinuses, nasal airway, skin cancers, thyroid disorders, ear diseases, cancers of the throat and larynx and pediatric problems. His special expertise lies in endoscopic sinus surgery and thyroid tumors. For the last 12 years he and his wife have run a monthly free ENT clinic for the uninsured.

Dr. Shimotakahara spends most of his free time pursuing sport activities including surfing, white-water kayaking, swimming, rollerblade hockey, scuba spear fishing and golf. He loves to cook for large groups of people (paella and sangria are his specialty) and studies foreign languages.

She then completed a General Surgery Residency at Mercer University and practiced Surgery in the USAF from 1990 to 1994, serving overseas in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After leaving the Air Force, she participated in medical missions in Tanzania East Africa for ten years. During that time she obtained a Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the University of Liverpool, UK. On her return to the US she pursued her foundational interest in family and preventive medicine by completing a residency in Family Medicine through the University of Tennessee, Memphis/St Francis Hospital program. She then became Board Certified in Family Medicine in 2008. Dr. Smith specializes in providing primary and preventive care to entire families from birth to hospice care. She did her Postgraduate rotating Internship year at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan, Metro Manila, from 1999-2000. Dr. Somera then moved to the United States in June 2002 for her Internal Medicine Residency Training at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. After residency graduation, she took on her first job as a primary care physician at North Bend Medical Center in November 2005.

Dr. Somera enjoys the autonomy and flexibility of her private practice, and the camaraderie among physicians/health care personnel within the clinic and community. Living in Oregon has opened up new adventures (from hiking to snowboarding) and new activities (from crabbing and clamming to tuna canning) for her. While in Italy he mastered the Italian language and subsequently received a BA in Italian at Brigham Young University. Before attending medical school Dr. Tersigni worked for several years as a roofing contractor in California. He attended the University of Utah Medical School and received his MD in 1990. Dr. Tersigni received his general surgery training at the University of Kansas Medical Center and started a practice at North Bend Medical Center in July of 1995.

Dr. Tersigni is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He specializes in breast, thoracic, and general surgery with a special interest in advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery. Dr. Tersigni is currently a clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Oregon Health Science University School of Medicine.

Dr. Tersigni is the founder of Bay Bariatrics and provides Bariatric Surgery to patients from all over Oregon and the surrounding states. Bay Bariatrics is recognized by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as a Center of Excellence, one of only five in all of Oregon.
